About us

Hello. I am Sona, writer of this blog “The Siddha Within”

I would like my blog to introduce readers to the deep knowledge and wisdom residing in our ancient, but today, lesser known Indian texts.

Many of these texts have been passed down to us over centuries often through personal story telling or contained in literature written in Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu and sometimes local languages. They offer great insights about the Indian philosophy of life and its mysterious forces.

I have been an avid reader with specific interest in ancient texts of India. My reading habit was almost born with me. My sisters and I would spend hours reading as soon as we were old enough to pick up a book. We were fortunate to have access to great libraries in our school and others in Delhi, where we grew up.

When India was a young nation, as part of the Government of India, my father was involved in the writing and editing of the multiple volumes of the Gazetteer. The Gazetteer was aimed at documenting the history, culture, religions, geography of India from Indian eyes. A little known fact.

I remember pouring over several thick, silk covered hard bound books and feeling fascinated with the wealth and diversity of Indian culture and its diverse philosophies. If you ever have an opportunity, please read the Gazetteer, available in several volumes and likely to be available only in government libraries.

It has been more than 35 years since I have been reading in this area of interest and delighted to be able to share through my blogposts.

A little more about me, I have lived in various parts of India and countries abroad. While I grew up in Delhi, my education and work took me to Jamshedpur, Hyderabad and Mumbai. The last few years have been spent living in Singapore and US. I am a management professional and have spent 23+ years in the corporate world and specialize in areas of Executive Coaching and Organization Development.

At the moment, I am enjoying being a blogger and connecting with people through books I am detailing here.

I would love your feedback…..just try to be gentle in what you have to say ;-))

Happy Reading!!!

Hi, my name is Rajesh. I chip in with editing but importantly learning the basics of managing a Blog. I am perhaps the “hands and head” supporting Sona.

For a large part I am like you, another person undertaking the internal journey of life. This journey has been challenging, rewarding, transformative but specifically helping me reach an important point of what really matters, what truly is the source of joy and nudging me to take finite steps in that direction.

My interests outside my profession are many….i am most attached to all things kitchen – cuisines, cooking and kitchenware. And my profession on the other hand has helped me grow as a person and for that I am grateful. It has also taken me to myriad places to live, cultures to experience, environments to embrace and problems to solve.

Which brings me to NOW. As we seem stumble on to the joys of reading a number of sacred and lost texts, reflecting and organizing what we are seeking, we felt the need to share our discoveries with universal readers

With deep gratitude we thank you for your curiosity. Do share your thoughts to make these conversations more complete.
